Morgan County Court Docket Basics
A docket is the chronological register of activity in one case. Small-claims dockets have useful local timing markers. Processing often takes one to two weeks after filing. A defendant generally has 14 days after service to answer. Morgan County Docket Court Levels
Morgan County is Alabama's 8th Judicial Circuit. State trial dockets use the statewide system. Morgan County Docket Versus File
The docket is the roadmap. The case file contains the source papers. A line reading “motion filed” does not reveal the motion's full request. Morgan County lies in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama for federal trial matters. Federal-question civil suits, diversity cases, federal criminal prosecutions, and other federal cases are not filed with Chris Priest or the Morgan County Circuit Clerk.

CM/ECF is the filing system, while public electronic retrieval generally runs through PACER.

Bankruptcy and Custody Docket Limits
Bankruptcy is federal and separate from Morgan County Probate Court. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama handles Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 petitions, schedules, creditor claims, discharge orders, adversary proceedings, and trustee activity.

Morgan County Court Docket Calendars
